"Training the Trusted Canine"

The Air-Scenting Canine

Two-day or four-day seminars based on the individual SAR canine profiles and developed to suit the SAR Canine Organization's established standards. (Bark Alert or Re-find Alert) Since Handlers are part of the dog team, theory in all areas is provided as part of the course content. Theory is provided with all profiles regarding scent, search techniques, search protocols and procedures, environment, and documentation. Upon request, canines will be pre-evaluated to assess their inherent drives and to determine suitability, along with an opinion on the most reliable reward system required.

Proofing for the Reliable Search Dog

Is your dog working or is he busy locating something good to eat or sniff? Can you trust your dog?
A search dog handler must be able to read and trust their dog.
A search dog must be working at locating what we have trained them to find, not just going for a walk looking to see if other animals have been in the area or what treats may have been left on the ground.

This one-day seminar provides the tools required to read your dog to know when it is working or just being a dog. Instruction includes proofing methods to teach your dog how to maintain focus on what you want it to search for. Handlers will be put in situations that will force them to trust in their training and dogs decision-making capabilities during this seminar. Search dogs from any profile or level of training are welcome.
