Have you ever tried to use a wrench to put a nail in a wall, when what you really needed was a hammer?
Not all dogs have the aptitude or desire to work effectively in search and rescue!
If you are serious about using a dog in SAR, and whether you are a search dog handler or not, then this presentation is for you.
We'll take a unique look at what makes a good search dog, including information about 'drives', how to choose the right breed, and how to evaluate individual dogs.
You'll learn about what to look for, and how to evaluate potential.
Get the right tool for the job - and eliminate the frustration of trying to use the wrong tool!
A one-day seminar on what to look for when choosing a canine for search duties. This seminar provides the tools on how to test for inherent drives.
What is your dog built with?
A one-day seminar on the dog's inherent drives and reward systems. This seminar offers information for the potential puppy buyer, breeder, or if already training
a dog, what reward system will work best. Also by looking at the dog's inherent drives, it shows where a dog's strengths and weaknesses lie. Inherent drive
evaluations are conducted on all dog participants.
These seminars are offered to those interested in Canadian Kennel Club Tracking Trials. Both seminars offered provide handout material on theory.
Basic - a two-day seminar
Advanced - a 1 day seminar
